Chorten Kora shawl in undyed natural handwoven Bhutanese wool

Chorten Kora Shawl — Natural

€290,00

Named for Chorten Kora, the great white stupa at Trashiyangtse in eastern Bhutan, which pilgrims circle on foot. Woven in undyed highland fleece, wide enough to wear as a wrap or fold as a scarf.

Woven by hand, so no two pieces are identical. Small variations in colour, width and weave are the evidence of the loom, not a fault.

Specification

  • 100% Bhutanese highland sheep wool
  • Handwoven on a wooden loom in our Thimphu atelier
  • Woven in narrow panels and joined by hand with a cream cross-stitch — the Chumey seam
  • Made to order in Thimphu, after payment confirmation
  • Worldwide shipping, 7–21 business days standard
  • Free worldwide shipping on orders over €500

Priced by loom-days

We price our work by loom-days — the number of days a piece spends on the loom. It is the only measure that reflects what a handwoven textile actually costs to make.

Care

Dry clean, or hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild wool detergent. Spin for no longer than five minutes, reshape while damp, and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight.

All products are made to order, after payment confirmation.
