We are open six days a week

Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 19:00. Closed Sunday. Our showroom is in Thimphu, near the Bhutan Postal Museum, and the looms work upstairs. Visitors are welcome to come up and watch — the warping, the weaving, and the cross-stitch that joins the panels.

If you are told we are closed, please call us on +975 77 70 74 43 or message us on WhatsApp. It takes ten seconds, and we would rather you asked than went away.

Why it is worth the visit

It is the fastest way to understand why a handwoven bed cover costs what it does. It is also the only way to feel the difference between a premium fleece and an ordinary one, which is almost impossible to photograph.

You can watch a piece being woven, see the panels being joined, and handle the raw wool before it is spun.

Buying in person

Everything on this site can be seen in the showroom, along with pieces not yet listed online. We can arrange shipping home for anything bought in person, so you do not have to carry a rug through an airport.

Where yathra comes from

If you are travelling on to central Bhutan, the Chumey valley in Bumthang is where yathra weaving began, and Zungney village still sells it from roadside racks. It is a five-hundred-year-old craft that never stopped being a working trade.

The motifs woven into Yathra are deeply rooted in Bhutanese culture, with many carrying spiritual and symbolic meanings inspired by Buddhist beliefs. Historically, weaving was a skill passed from mother to daughter, and Yathra was woven by the women of the household for their families and communities.

Our products are made with 100% wool, and 100% merino wool

Generally, we recommend dry cleaning for rugs and blankets, or gentle hand wash in lukewarm water using a mild wool detergent. Remove excess water with a gentle spin cycle of up to 5 minutes, then reshape while damp and hang to air dry away from direct sunlight and direct heat.

Standard shipping is free on orders over €500. Below this threshold, shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on destination and weight.

Yes, you are welcome to visit our atelier during our opening hours. If you would like to visit our weaving workshop or arrange a private tour, we kindly ask that you book an appointment in advance by emailing us. This allows us to ensure someone is available to welcome you and show you around.
