Selvedge, the British textile magazine, stocks our rugs and throws in its shop, listing each piece with the name of the weaver who made it and the number of days it took.
Selvedge World Fair
The Yarn & Yathra House was included among the artisans of the Selvedge World Fair.
Daily Bhutan
Daily Bhutan profiled the house and its founder, Karma Tshoki, in a feature on yathra as Bhutan's local luxury.
For journalists and editors
We are happy to provide high-resolution photography, weaver interviews, and access to the atelier in Thimphu for filming or photography.
The short version of the story: yathra is a five-hundred-year-old woollen cloth from the Bumthang valleys, woven in narrow panels because that is all a Bhutanese loom will hold. We make the hand-stitched join between those panels visible instead of hiding it, and we price every piece by the number of days it spent on the loom.
